Labdanum grows all over the Mediterranean and Spain. Its official name is Cistus villosus var. creticus and it comes from the RockRose Bush. The fragrance of Labdanum is very complex. This waxy resin produces a balsam like, woody, earthy, marshy, smoky, ambergris like, leathery, flowery, honey like, mint like fragrance with hints of plum or oakmoss after a rain. Labdanum is said to reach deep into our subconscious and bring back memories, pictures, feelings and moods when burned.. Labdanum strengthens the body and provides warmth and sensuality. It is very grounding.
Labdanum is one of the main ingredients in the resin mix Amber.
Labdanum is strengthening, brings creativity, relaxation, helps with meditation, is very sensuous, and attracts love.
Labdanum attracts spirituality, protection, courage

Mixes Well With: amber, bay laurel, calamus, cardamom, chamomile, copal-Negro, iris root, lavender, nutmeg, oakmoss, opoponax, patchouli, rosemary, rose, saffron, sandalwood, tolu balsam, turmeric, etc.

Incense Use Tip: Use rubber or latex gloves!!! This resin is soft, sticky, and tar-like. It's much easier to use if it's first frozen. Freeze the resin for 1 hour or longer to harden it for grinding in a mortar and pestle or breaking into chunks. You can also carefully use a knife to shave pieces off the edges of the frozen resin.

A seldom used alternative is to warm the labdanum resin to a pour-able state, which enables you to drizzle it into a loose incense mixture. Warm it by placing labdanum resin in a glass jar, seal it and sit the jar in hot water until resin is more liquid-like and pour-able. A double-boiler may be required.

I highly recommend using rubber or latex gloves and a well covered disposable work area for easy cleanup of this very sticky resin. It can create quite a sticky mess! Its very difficult to work with and if you get it on your hands it will be stuck for sometime but when you finally get it off your skin will be soooo soft.lol Store in something you don't mind messing up.
